So yeah I Got to drive 71 240z today for the first time!!!

It was a fun and interesting ride...Only thing is when i would try to speed up the engine would bog down and basically i could barley get it into 3rd gear or it would die..idle is fine..I just can't get any speed.

Any Ideas? has new plugs and points & cap

 

timing, or carbs need rebuilt/tuned

 

Yup could be carbs or timing... I only had this problem once when it was old points distributor (early 70 240z) and it threw me as it seemed so much like a fuel bog but the carbs checked out fine (after a lot of investigation). Did a quick swap with another points distributor I had it the parts bin and it worked fine.

 

I got a ZX distributor if you are looking to upgrade.
