240z 1970 / swap to sr20det or saty in the L28 (What I need?)

Hello everybody

first i send a greeting to all and grateful from the beginning of any support can provide me

I am about to build a 1970 Datsun 240Z that I have bought

the car comes with a L28 engine from 280 to 1978 Z with 5 speed transmission (not yet which model) but need to do a rebuild

and I would like to make a change (SWAP) or fix the L28 from the beginning but i dont now where to get parts on internet

many people told me that SR20DET is one of the best engines for this change because of its low cost and accessibility of parts

But my question is what i would need to change when i make the swap?

example:

* Engine
* Transmission
* rear diff
* driveshaft
* axles

Which would be also the best SR20DET to put (s13 / s14 / s15) and which transmission (5 speed or 6 speed)

i will like to go into the 180-200hp with the L28 or to 300-350 hp with the sr20det

again any help that any one can offer I will be grateful

i 'm putting together a dream that I've always had and it's good to hear people who have tips that may help

regards

joe

Two very different animals you are taking about. Do you just want HP? Or more of a "pure Z" experience? With either engine to get that kinda of HP is going to be big dollars. Personally stick with the L28 and the 5 speed and go from there. There is a shite-load of info on this forum regarding all L block mods, grab a beer and start reading. Good luck.

If it's a '70 then you will be reducing the value dollar for dollar that you steer away from oem. Since the engine does not match the numbers at least stay with the L6 motor. Money spent on another 2400 block and E31 head with carbs can get you to 200hp and increase the value accordingly.
You can put the 280 crank and rods in it and 280 size valves in the E31.
