I have a problem with my 1978 Datsun 280 Z 2 +2. My father bought it new in ‘78 and drove it for 73,000 miles parking it in his barn in 1982. He subsequently became terminally ill and the automobile sat in the barn until 2008 at which time I recovered it. The cockpit is completely pristine and the engine compartment has had everything the mice and rats could eat replaced etc. Recently however the mass flow control system has failed. My mechanic is having difficulty in that he says there is some sort of an electronic module that controls the fuel flow to the injectors and it has failed. When he disconnects it the car will idle but when he reconnects the car will run for three seconds then shuts off. Does anyone have a clue as to what the problem is. I need to fix it or find a replacement part.
As an aside I drive the car about 5 miles a week just to keep it active.
