1973 240z Fusebox upgrade .... in-expensive version
HI all Z-fanatics, I am an owner of a 1973 240z that i have been restoring for ...... lets just say awhile.
like a lot of Z owners my OEM fusebox had some melting overheating problems. So like we all do looked online for OEM replacements or upgrades. I was able to locate one online used of course, and of course it looked good in the pictures, well even when I went to purchase it guess i was to excited for the find and price that i didnt do a really in-depth check. so when I got home all excited to install it I begin to install the nice old glass auto fuses, and well........ it cracked on the same area where mine was cracked!!!! I was kind of able to do a quick repair but of course that didnt last so again back to the web to search for a new or upgrade. I did see the upgrade to MSA Fuse Box https://www.zcar.com/cdn-cgi/image/f...00-png.110375/ This is nice for about $200 bills. Didnt quite want to spend that much so looked for something else but no luck. Until I came across this... https://www.zcar.com/cdn-cgi/image/f...38-png.110376/ I came across this online for only around $20 bucks. So I said what the heck lets give it a go. Here is the wiring setup I did. Since I had my old fusebox I removed all of the cables/pluges and soldered them onto the leads. ( ATTENTION: Soldering is pretty bad did it at night with small light and couldnt find my glasses so....) ok here is the OEM backside of the old fusebox https://www.zcar.com/cdn-cgi/image/f...mb-jpg.110378/ my little diagram https://www.zcar.com/cdn-cgi/image/f...ox-png.110377/ here is the wiring digram for the new fusbox https://www.zcar.com/cdn-cgi/image/f...0z-png.110379/ https://www.zcar.com/cdn-cgi/image/f...3l-png.110380/ https://www.zcar.com/cdn-cgi/image/f...30-png.110382/ Here is my final product https://www.zcar.com/cdn-cgi/image/f...30-jpg.110383/ https://www.zcar.com/cdn-cgi/image/f...31-jpg.110384/ I havent had the chance to install it but will in a few days. I will let you know how it turns out. oh it would be cool if someone could 3d print a bracket for this that would screw into the original mount!!! may be when I get a chance I will create one. Let me know what you think. not bad for about $20 bucks!!!! Have fun. -Jacob |
