240z turbo route

So just wanted to start this forum with a brief introduction. My name is Tommy. I am fairly new to these forums but Ive been into cars since I can remember. Bought my first 240z say about 4 months ago and Loved it. Gotta say I got lucky on the deal, I am a college student but I work too. Pretty much a clean s30 with very little rust and a straight shell. But other than that...

My l24 took a dump and blew a headgasket 2 months back and ive been trying to decide between getn the head rebuilt and add new gaskets and rebuild it or more power.

Ive been very interested in getting a l28et (since they drop in and are mostly cheap) But i do plan on mildy building on one. Ive done my research but the main problem is I cant find a l28et Checked local junkyards, searched Craigs, ebay nothing...

But I did find a l28e down the street. A 79 280zx.

I did consider turboing it. How would a p90 head work on a n42 block with l28et pistons? Planned on getting megasquirt sense I dont have the sensors for turbo.... But any help from anyone would be very appreciated.

Much appreciated!

P.s. also made this post in the 280zx section. Should of just posed it here :017: Oh well!

When I got my 240Z it had an N/A L28 (F54/P90). I decided that I would play with this engine a bit, and add a turbo to it and wait on the engine swap (still not quite ready to swap 4 years later lol).

I bought the turbo bits piecemeal, this way I only bought the Nissan specific parts that I needed and not a lot of parts that I didn't need.

About the only Nissan specific turbo parts I bought were the exhaust manifold and cam cover. The rest were either N/A parts (intake manifold) or parts from other cars or custom made.

With you needing an engine, you may be better off buying an N/A L6 and adding the turbo bits to it. Sometimes you can find complete turbo engines, but not very often anymore.
