Rear stub axle

Anyone know if the rear stub axle with the wheel studs on it is the same for all the S30's?

All the R180's are the same, and all the R200's are the same, but not interchangeable with the other.

Is this also true for the rear wheel hub?

As far as I know, all the S30 R180 setups are the same, and all the S30 R200 setups are the same.

I was just curious. I need a pair of rear hubs for my 280 and stumbled across a pair of 240 rear hubs. I did find out that the bearings are the same, but couldn't find a parts reference for the rest.

If you're meaning companion flanges that would be rears only. Then the difference could be the spline count. The front are not called hubs they are called strut/spindle. Don't hold me to it this just what my experience showed me.

The S30s are all the same from drum to drum. In '77-'78 the 5 speed models had R200 diffs. So the only difference was the mustache bar and the diff hubs. Mustache bar was different in the 72-78, it moved the diff back to reduce vibration. Shock tube length changed in '75.

I'm assuming you are using the term "rear stub axels" correctly.

The rear stub axels are different from the early 240Z to the 280Z. The spline count on the 240's are 25 vs. 27 on the 280. Therefore the rear stub axel outer flange for the half shafts will have to be correctly matched to the spline count of the rear stub axel.

All S30's have the same 4 bolt mounting pattern for the half shaft mounting portion of the flange. A 240 half shaft will bolt onto a 280 flange or the half shafts from a 180R diff will bolt on to 200R diff & vice versa.

The 240's tend to be a weak stub axel when putting more power then stock to the wheels.

So it would be wise of you to get 280z rear stub axels or you will have to aslo replace the outer flange as well if going the 240z way.
