New owner of a 280z and believe it or not I have questions...
 

Hi guys,

I just picked up a 76 280z, unexpected purchase but Ive been wanting a Z car for a while and got a hell of deal, so I'm stoked! The car is strait and has very little rust so in the future I may put the time and money into it that it deserves, but as of now its just gonna be a fun little second driver/project.

Well im pretty sure it has the original shocks so as you can imagine it rides more like a boat than a sports car. I am tempted to pick up the tokico hp series and coil spring kits I have seen around (http://www.gripmotorsports.com/pi~pn...mbo-10821.html) but not sure If I really need it as I have no idea what a stock 280z (with fresh shocks) rides like.

I know this kit will be better than stock but are they substantially better than just grabbing some OEM replacement shocks and using the stock springs? (I know they will be a harsher ride but I may autocross it in the future).

Also, it seems to run well but wants to bog for a second in the lower rpms when I get on the gas. I haven't trouble shot too much yet but figured I would ask while I was here in case it was a common/simple problem that others have experienced.

Does yours still have the FI installed? If it's been converted to carbs, the bog is pretty common but can be mostly sorted out with time & patience.

My '78 has the original springs & shocks so I now the ride feeling. I was looking at some Eibach springs and just replacing the shocks/struts with some KYB shocks. A bit cheaper than the Tokico kits, and probably better for a daily driver.
