Convertion to Power Steering?

Hey, i'm getting a 78 280z good condition, and was just wondering if anyone here has converted there Z to power steering. And if so yes, then could I get a price estimate on home much it was to have done?. Thanks

I have this page saved from a long time ago. I thought about doing a power steering addition to my Z, but never found the time. Sounds very complicated though.

Good luck and remember to take pictures for us!

I used a circle track pump w/pulley similar to an Allstar Performance #ALL28250; remote tank #ALL36122 mounted on the firewall; A hand made ridgid bracket mounted on the 4 holes on the drivers side, front of the engine; Had custom made pulley mounted on existing harmonic balancer attchment bolt, in front of and next to the alternator pulley. The steering rack is a pinto or Mustang mounted (welded) to the front of the motor mount crossmember yoke. Steering rack must be positioned correctly so as not to change the bumpsteer.
It's a big job! But why would anyone want to do that unless there running slicks?

I agree with jferson on this. Why would you want power steering on a 1st gen Z. First it is a lot of weight. and second the steering on a 1st gen Z is perfect the way it is.It has perfect feed bcak and great road feel.

Just my thoughts

idk why u would want to do power steering. the cars were almost built perfect. not saying keep everything stock but u should be surprise on how well they disign the z. if i rember right power steering takes some power away from the engine+adds weight = not a good combo.
