72 240: How the heck do i get the rear drums off
May be a dumb question but I've never worked on a japanese vehicle this old. I cannot figure out how the get the drums off. They don't seem to pull straight off, I can't find a hole to thread in bolt like some cars, It doesn't seem to have a star wheel hole either.
Any help appreciated |
Make sure ebrake is loose, nudge with rubber mallet. :D
The FSM says to disconnect the ebrake line, pop out cover and use flathead screwdriver to adjust in the wheel: www.xenons30.com/reference |

I just had this problem a few days ago. I took two dead blow hammers ( large and small). I took small one and set on the edge of drum and hit it with the large one. Spun drum and kept workin them till I got them off. My passenger side was completely locked up. I used a round pry bar between the lugs to spin the axle over. Worked for me. Good luck.

Not to threadjack or anything. But is it possible to make an S30 4 wheel disc, and get rid of the drum brakes? I only know how to work on disc brakes. I am asking, because sometime in the future I will be getting a 240-280z. I think drum brakes on a small lightweight sports car are kind of lame. Even my Neon has rear drum brakes, which doesn't make sense to me.
