Datsun Europe

Hi Datsun Enthousiasts!

I'm new here so hi. Ok I'll get straight to the point. I can't find a datsun 240z or 280z which i can let rebuild/restore. Fact is that I don't know anything about mechanics but really love the cars. I see plenty of finished tuned Datsuns in the states (online) and makes me a bit annoyed that really anything is available in Europe. If you find a couple there is no company around that is willing to restore/tune it.

So my questions is, who could help me out with finding a company or individual who sells finished tuned Datsuns. I am open for any propositions to have a finished Datsun delivered in Europe.

Hope you guys can help me out in giving me some good sites or companies to help me with this request.

In any case, keep it up! You guys rock

Thx!

Marco

Direct approach

This may be harder than one assumes, but there are plenty of restored Z cars scattered across the country. To keep your costs down you might want to pick a coast that is the cheapest for shipping and base your location searches on that. Personally, from my own experience west coast cars, particularly Arizona and California cars are the best places to look for rust free well taken care of cars. Seems east coast Z's are pretty ratty and rusted out, to much salt on the roads in winter. Once you find a qualified candidate, then you need to involve someone who you trust to check out the car and get it to the docks and shippers. This will most likely cost you a flat fee or possibly a percentage. Off the top of my head, a car shipped to Europe from the west coast is about $1500 - 2000 depending on weight and cubic meters, someone like Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines can handle it. A finders fee for a Z car will depend on the final cost most likely, but probably be somewhere from $1500 to $4000, that should cover your costs. Now you just need to find a car in your budget, you didn't say what you were hoping to spend, or what you could afford ? A fully restored beautiful example can be $20K and up, a nice driver you should be able to find for $4000, for the price it should be a fairly nice car, good interior and good paint and a lower miles 80K to 110k cars are available in that range, nicer examples about 7 to 8K will net you a very nice car. Beware of people over pricing they're cars, assuming they are rare hard to find cars, at this point there are plenty to go around, so if someone just wants way to much, then just move on. If you had 12000 euros, you could do what you are asking and get a fairly nice car, but the price will depend on a few variables, but go by my price guide lines to ferret out the greedy sellers.

Hi PredatoZ! Thanx for the quick reply and elaborate information. Good guidelines for sure. I was thinking indeed around a price range of $15000 for a full restored one. I think seeing that you can have one around $2500 $4500 and having like $10000 on restoration should be sufficient. You can always go higher that's for sure, but I don't need an engine swap to a v8 or so Thx for the reply! I appreciate it. So looking for some dealers in Arizona and California to help me out.
