240z BSP Autocross Pics
#7
Right on! I'm still pretty new to the site so I wasnt sure if anyone would even check it out. I'll post some more this evening.
This is my first z so I've been learning by trial and error (and tons of help from this site), but here's the current specs...I'd really appreciate any suggestions for future mods, changes, etc. I'm working toward building a competitive BSP autocross car. Unfortunately, the Lancers and Suby WRX's also compete in that class.
1973 Datsun 240z chassis
- 1974 2.6L engine w/ 240z intake, carbs, etc (no emissions)
- Headers & custom exhaust
- Stock 240z dizzy w/ Pertronix (I'll take suggestions for upgrades!)
- New radiator, water pump, fuel pump, wires, belt, etc
- No heater, a/c, power steering, radio, etc
- 5-way adjustable Tokiko Illumina shocks & springs
- Energy suspension polyurethane bushings
- 280zx 5-speed transmission
- Aftermarket seats and belts (5-point camlock drivers belt, 4-point passenger belt)
- Autopower 4-point rollbar w/ crossbrace
- 16x8 street wheels/tires, 15x7 race wheels/tires)
- I did some custom body work (shaved lights, rear bumper, etc)

put your car on a diet, get a full roll bar that goes from the floor to the roof, then "x" the rear bars that go from the main hoop to the strut towers, then weld a bar to connects the two strut towers horizontally, gusset the living crap out of the roll bar and gusset the roll bar to the car as well, another thing you could do is to stitch or seam weld the chassis at various points, build a new frame, full cage with door bars....etc
