play in steering wheel

my steering wheel has progressively gotten looser. when i'm driving straight i can wiggle the steering wheel left and right a little without moving the car left are right. also say if i'm on the highway and i'm driving with one hand at the 12 o'clock position, if i take an off-ramp, a long right turn, whenever i start back driving straight, my steering wheel will be at the 1 or 2 o'clock position, but i'll be driving straight. also this problem makes driving in rain extra hazardous. cause when i hit a puddle of water the looseness in the wheel makes it real easy for the car to be pulled left or right. it's caused me to changed lanes against my will. luckily there was no car next to me. please help

I had a similar problem with my Z, i'm not sure if theyre caused by the same problems. But i had to replace my CV Joint, it was all mangled up and i could turn my wheel 1/4 turn before my wheels actually turned.

update oil leak

high some of u probably remember me and my oil leak that took out my alternator. well it's happened again. i was hoping that by some stroke of luck maybe it was a one time thing, but it that didn't happen. now i want to know the best way to fix. i was told that it could be a cam seal leak, or maybe i just need to tighten or replace a gasket. if it's literally a leak. is it possible to simply block or deter the leak from leaking onto the alternator? can a "guard" be installed on top of the alternator?

--please help. remember, the leak is apparently above the alternator and it may not be oil since my oil level doesn't appear to drop.

It's oil...I answered your question in your other post. As far as your steering wheel play goes,...it could be as simple as steering rack bushings. They're cheap and not too difficult to replace. The passenger side is very easy. The driver's side is a bit more difficult.

is it possible that a power steering leak can be the culprit?

Could be. I hadn't heard of anyone losing an alternator from it, but after reading a few of turtleboy's posts, it makes sense. It is right there and those hoses do leak frequently.
