vacuum

Ok guys so I took my exhaust off at my downpipe... and removed the vacuum line thing that hooks to the exhaust.. Now it is always flooding its self. I've noticed that that line goes to all the egr "i think" and boost gauge stuff.. and also looks like it goes to my fuel pressure regulator... My question is since its gone. and I have all of that stuff taken off... it runs good now. But has trouble starting.. I need to know the fuel pressure regulator is suppose to have vacuum going to it or have air pressure going to it... if it needs to make vacuum then I will swap the vacuum line on the plennum right there to it to make vacuum. But don't wanna mess everything up by doing that. My exhaust was never attached to the downpipe all the studs were broken off and it was just being held next to it by the line that goes to it for vacuum. SO a quick response would be really nice... Thanks alot guys.. I've got a couple of sponsors wanting to look at this weekend and need to have it in tip top shape.. by 6pm my time..

when you post you really need to state year, model, n/a, or turbo to get good answers. put the car in your signature and there it is. yes the fpr does need vacuum. there is usually a small hose 90 going to a spud off the plenum. if you took the egr off you might as well go all the way and blank off the hole. you probably should replace your climate control hoses - they are usually gone by now

its a 87 300zx Turbo. No AC and haven't deleted the EGR yet.. I could really use some sort of diagram of what each line does in the engine bay. I have 3 foot of vac line to by pass and run to make this thing run right. I'm really new to this car. and I love it to death. just getting really annoyed...

you only need like two inches to connect the fpr. running the climate control lines will take more than three feet. all the other vacuum lines can just be blocked off.
