Moisture in Headlight

Passenger side head light...same as in my dearly departed 88...
Is this a common problem?

Question is: If I pull the lens assembly out to clean it..will I lose the adjustment settings? In other words, will the light have to be aimed again or will it go in exactly as it came out? I just want to know what I am dealing with before I do it.

And, is it just a bad seal that is allowing water in?
Thx

if you would really like answers that would help you and avoid flames give the following info when you post: year of car, n/a or turbo engine, stick or slushbox, digital or analog dash. Most of us can tell by the year what model you have ie 85T is a turbo z31. Z cars come in many flavors and they are all different. example 84,85,86 Z31's pretty comparable. there were changes in 87,88,89. in addition 300ZX can refer to two completly different cars the Z31 and the Z32. No mindreaders here the more info you can post the more likely you get a cogent useful answer. The cars with L engine (straight six) changed almost yearly from their introduction. A 240Z and and a 280Z have similarities but they can also have wide variance.

if you got sealed beams not bulbs then you have a pinhole in the lens.

Hey Rog!

Mine is an 87 stick..same as the 88 & 89's ..the pop up head lights..sorry about leaving details out. The lens has the hole in the back for inserting the bulb. I actually had to replace the bulb a few months ago and had a heck of a time unscrewing the connection in the back..probably because the moisture locked it tight.

So the question is: If I pull the lens out, will the unscrewing of the unit undo the settings i.e. its aim

Perhaps I should have a signature line as you do
Thx

if you had said that then I would know you have bulbs. sealed beams ended with the 86. I'd pull the bulb get a hairdryer and warm up the unit to get rid of the moisture. you may well have pinhole in the lens. inspect carefully. silicon sealant works or maybe that ultraviolet setting glue they advertise on late night TV. if no pinhole then you need to find out where it is leaking. You might have to re aim it after taking it off.
yeah putting the car in your signature is eaSIER than putting it in every post.

Thx Roger! I took a look at it today and saw some of the screws I will have to use to take it out. I had the same problem with my 88 ..same side as well. I always feel after I re-aim a headlight that I did not do it correctly. I am sure there is a video for this on youtube so..I will will hack away it this!

Tthx
