How to tighten my Drive Belt
Hello all,
So my 1989 300zx runs pretty great, but the drive belt is a little lose. If i push down on the belt with the car off, it deflects 5/8" which is a bit too much. So i want to tighten this belt. The problem is, i cannot find the tensioner! My Z does not have AC in it and the Haynes Manual diagram looks nothing like my car.
The picture below is my set up, would anyone be able to help with locating?
Link if the pic doesnt show

Are you talking about the timing belt? (the cogged belt, usually there is plastic cover over it that is why maybe it looks strange)
Or the accessory belts?
The power steering pump and alternator should be able to tighten the belts, and the timing tensioner is in this picy closest to the crank timing pulley

Here is a good writeup, you can read through it, scroll all the way to bottom, it explains the tensioner etc.

I did a water pump / timing belt job just last night on my Infiniti QX4 (VG33E)... same exact setup as the VG30 in the pic Skully posted. The accessory belts have a diagonal slider tensioner pulley. Loosen the nut in the center of the pulley (14mm), then tighten the diagonal bolt on the side of the pulley (12mm or 14mm). Not sure where your power steering pump is (I can't see the pic you posted... blocked on my work comp), but my PS pump was at the bottom left of the engine and the tension bolt about .5" from the frame. I had to use a ratcheting stub box wrench to get it tight.
