I'm in Southwest, Virginia and there are many s30 and s130 z's rotting in yards that you see, but the people are all sentimental about them and wont part with. They have tags from the 80's and 90's. Like I don't understand their logic. They're just rotting away. I see one z31 around driving that's rusted pretty badly and two other z32s; one is a tt. I have a 79 s130(wrecked and parting out), an 87 z31, and a 91 z32. All are N/A.

What is it about Taco Bell? A girl at the drive through window asked me if mine was the "Back to the Future" car. She thought it was a Delorean LOL.

In central LA I've seen only 1 for-sure Z31 in the past 6-8 months.

A couple more on the highway that I think were Z31's.

But that's it

Tons of 1990+ Z's though

I took out my z31 today to test drive it around and see how it's driving. I passed a white z31 leaving a parking lot near a Ralphs. He honked and waved just as I passed by. Aaaand this is why I love the Z31 community!

FYI: I live in SoCal (in the west side of the san fernando valley).

In Pittsburgh there is a comeback. Our grandfather's stuck their Zs in garages. Now their dieing off and their Zs are sold cheap.Due to the auto culture here in Pa. I see a lot since I do a lot of side work in my barn. Its great seeing a fellow at a gas station. But them 350 and 370 guys are very not into the heritage lol. I beep and wave not even a head turn lol.

Well, I have about 5 Z Cars that are in about a 10 block radius of my house. 3 are 280 ZX, 1 280 Z, and 1 300 ZX. Mine is not the best but mine is more fun, they all have automatics. Speaking of that I have to quit turning the tires or they will get me someday.

Other z's

I moved to Oregon from NY 3 years ago and within the last 6 months to the Oregon coast. In all this time, I have not seen one other Z31 or earlier. Somewhat depressing not seeing a fellow 'z'-did go to Les Schwab(huge tire service center) to get an alignment and the car attracted every mechanic there-felt proud.

I get the same thing here too.
I was giving it some thought, and yes it's easy to love the cars for the aesthetic and visceral appeal, they are beautiful and fun to drive. But, and I think this is a very big but (worthy of a song) once you have been covered in grease and sweat and blood from a day of wrenching on your Z the appeal is now ground in, earned and appreciated more I think. Making the commitment to own an older car, and enjoy working on it is almost as fun as driving it. Just buying a new car, even a cool Z won't get you to that place, it certainly wouldn't hurt.
I love the new GT-R's, but I won't buy one unless I win the Lotto. One Cool point, the new Nismo GT-R is smashing records on almost every track it goes to, one of the fastest, best handing production cars in the world... Nissan and Nismo rock.

But I am still gonna wave to the 370's and 350's guys and hope for the best.

I live in Leesburg, Virginia, and for the first time today i saw a z31 on the 15 bypass in Leesburg. I've seen a few z32's but aside from my own I haven't seen that many. Trying to convince a friend of mine to get one but I don't think he's going for it. (Probably because he doesn't know how to drive a stick)

Sticks

Real men can drive a manual trans, so convince your friend that something as simple as driving a stick shift it not only easy, but a blast. I have been trying to talk my youngest brother into getting a Z, he drives a POS Chevy Geo Storm, so any Z would be an upgrade. Some people just don't get it, until they drive one. I know the 1st time I let my brother drive my 300zx, "it just wants to go !" he said, excited that it was so responsive, so sometimes you need to get them behind the wheel.

i live in wayne county ohio and work in the cleveland and akron areas. i see 350s and 370s maybe 2-3 times a month, z32s 2-3 times a year and never any z31s. i go to the street races in mansfield and ive never seen a z31 or z32 there despite all the love for jdm. the only z31 ive ever seen in person besides my own is a gold one i saw in wayne county. most of my car guy friends who are into jdm didnt even know what my car was when they first saw it.

so i guess there pretty rare around here to say the least

240z today

I saw a 240z today, a lady was driving , she pulled right next to me in traffic, looked over and I said HI ! , she just looked back forward, no words. Had a silly flower stripe and really tall tires, so go figure.

Decent amount of 350 and 370z's. Second most z32s, but rarely, and they are all imported so RHD, I feel rare with the LHD. Rest very very rare....few a year.

This is literally how many z's are in the town I am in.

2 z32's, one with a blown motor paked in a garage, 2 z31's although one of them is moving back out of state, one rusty 280z that sits next to a barn about 30 miles outside of town (currently for sale for $1500) and one 350z that I have seen twice over 6 months.

There is actually a pretty nice '72 240Z for sale here in town. Rust-free body, nice interior...and runs absolutely awesome. The only bad thing is, it had this hideous speckled paint job, like a bass boat. She is asking $10K.....if it wasn't for the paint, I would snap her up!

Well my 280 is on the road, but our red z31 is back in the shop. Upgrading the fuel system and building a magasquirt ECU.

Look us up.

We hardly ever see any Z's older than 350/370's around Indy. Maybe a few a year.

The last 280 we saw besides ours was 3 or 4 yrs ago parked at a taco bell. Waited for the guy to come out and told him "great car" I probably freaked him out a little because he quickly got in and drove off. lol

Last week we pulled up next to a new 370z with his convertible down at a stop light in our 280. We had our T tops out too. I yelled over to him "nice car" he said it wasn't so nice in January" I replied "that is what our car wants to be when it grows up" He finally really looked at us and said "holy **** that's a 280 I havn't seen one of those in 10 yrs"

We drive our 280 from Indy to the Chicago area every weekend. We keep a boat on lake Michigan and use my Z for the 400 mile round trip. it's like driving a museum around. Get lot's of looks. People at the marina/park stop and ask questions about it. I might have to make a information sign to put in the window for when we are not at the car.

Working on my car in the front yard under a tree today, on our tiny little street a car carrier goes by, on the top rack is an s30 failady z, very rusty around the wheel wells, but had to gasp a bit in surprise, it was white also, like mine.

Against the odds

I was at my local Walmart, just coming out the front door and I notice a 350Z in the same Isle as me, just a few cars closer to the store. I kind of wanted to say Hi, but I was sort of in a hurry, when I was loading my car up, he stops and says " Hi, nice car, she is a real beauty !".... so I said thanks of course, and then gave him my heritage speech, and how us classic Z guys wouldn't mind an occasional wave from the sometimes snooty Z33 & 34 guys. But he was really cool, and it never hurts ones ego to get a compliment !

A taco Bell thing
back when I had my 81 S130T (probably 1985-86 ) I used to go there for lunch 1 or 2 times a week from Nissan, wearing my uniform. the manager there worked the drive up and had a nice 72 240 . He always ask tech questions . I met him at a light one day and the valves sounded very loose .
I went there after work one day and adjusted them ,from then on if he was at the store ,I ordered just a burrito and taco but got a sack full of items.
(I didn't know about their mystery meat then):armata
