Heads

OK so I fixed the vacuum lines on my car... and it threw a rod... guessing it couldn't handle all the gas it was getting. and studdering and such and just threw the rod. so I'm thinking about doing a VG33 swap. I can get a short block for 150 bucks with good pistons and such... I saw on xenonz31 its a doable swap. and sounds like i can use my heads. But not sure what heads are on my car. it is a 1987 300zx turbo. with original engine. can anyone tell me what heads it has. or if i should just buy a long block can get one for 400. But cheaper the better. thanks for any and all help guys.. and would love to talk to someone who has done this swap so if anyone has please PM me. with number or email so i can contact. Thanks so much to anyone who can help with this.

I think the heads are the same ,pistons being the difference.
is it terminal thru the block ? may be worth a tear down to check
you will have headaches ,roadblocks with wiring as most is different
Oh didn't understand you were going VG30 to VG33
legal in your state to swap a different mtr ? I know it's close but

Not a Z31 project, but this link is one of the better VG30/33 conversions I've seen discussed on the internet.

I think i just threw a rode. fixed all my vacuum problems.. and went for a test drive.. to make sure it was all fixed and what not then it went BAM Knock Knock Knock Knock so i said Shi* and limped it home and parked it... I'm now thinking just rebuild with forged internals and go ahead and go all out on it... But not sure what internals to run... or how much boring i can do... so if anyone has any info on that that'd be great... and a write up on how to gut the plenum would be awesome too.. why hasn't anyone done that???

forget the TT kit, It's mostly the wrong stuff. Just get a VG33 short block and swap all you engines stuff. You will have to do some mod for the dipstick and oil pan.
