ECU problem ? What's your thoughts

I have an 86 non turbo automatic
I have a problem with the number 3 fuel injector staying on
It's not physcally stuck open put it is receive a constant pulse
As shown by using a noid light. The interesting thing it seems to happen when
The fuel pump is running even when you turn the key on without starting the car and the pump is priming the fuel system
Any ideas ? Is it simply a bad ECU ?
Also in the chance it is a bad ECU would someone have one for sale
THANKS

This happened in my 83 280zx turbo. Turned out to be the ECU. Does your car not have the fuel injector campaign done on the car? Injectors 1 & 5 on that side of the engine should be firing if #3 is aswell if its a computer problem. If you dont have the campain done... just open up the harness and tie in injector#3 to Injector 1 or 5. U can just not use the injector driver for #3 in the ecu.

the FI ECU grounds the injectors, they are connected to pos with the ign. on so likely #3 wire is grounded or the ecu is grounding it . I would unhook the ecu and see if it is still grounding , but zuphoria plan works too i would wire it as the recall does though ,all one bank wired together and cut the others

Lot of ECUs available at car-part.com. (No, I don't get a commission. I just believe in recycling) Some as low as $50. Search under computer box/engine.

Sort your search results by distance from your zip code. Call the recyclers up and discuss. Sounds like a good idea for you to drop in another ECU at this point. I have had two of them fail over the years - and it will make you crazy unless and until you eliminate it as the real source of the problem.

Ebay

Ebay has a bunch, I just posted my 84 NA manual ecu there, most are asking north of $100, I posted mine for $90 shipped, I had a crazy person expect me to accept an offer of $40 and I pay shipping, which would of netted me $28, aint no way I will give it away, and then have to turn around and buy another one. I have a nice low miles VG30e I was going to use, but now I am going to install the timing belt kit I have and sell it to finance my Turbo upgrade.

Your local Nissan dealer would have done the injector recall work - or any other dealer for that matter. Drop in to the one nearest to you and give them the VIN. Nissan central will tell them if the work has already been done. If not, I guess the dealer will still do it - for free to you because Nissan pays the dealer. Let us know if that's not right, OK?

ecu

Ide love you to try and get the dealer to do a 19 year old service campain. Im sure they'll give you the run around. If you want to just look to see if its done. Look for yellow tape/stripe on the injector harness

Yea the service writer likely to try to blow you off as it cost him money to have it in the shop ( he makes $00 on the repair and has to remove a paying job)
I had that response with mine . Ask what day of the month the DSM will be there and get a meeting with him and you will get it .
