Yay!!! Tread Wear!

I need new tires. but before i slap new shoes on my lady, i need to know:

there is an extreme amount of tread-wear on the inside area of all the tires (more so in the rear 2 tires). How can i fix this without going to a mechanic and spending money? id like to fix the issue before gettin a new set of tires... u know, get the bang for my buck.

doing research on the internet isnt telling me much, everyone says to go to a reputable mechanic to have the problem adressed and fixed, but they arent telling me what to look at in order to fix it.

My guess is obviously somewhere in the suspesion or alignment, maybe the stabilizer bar?

help!!!!

You don't take it to a mechanic, you take it to an alignment shop...

There are a billion (slight exaggeration ) websites on DIY alignments... There is even a "how to" in the FSM. And if you don't know what you are doing... well... that's why everyone says "take it to an alignment shop". They usually charge $40-$60... a good deal that even comes w/ a warranty. Much better deal than burning thru a set of $200 tires in a few thousand miles.

thats pretty cheap for an alignment.

theres a big0tires around where i live and they do alignments, should i stay away from tire shops for alignment or do you think theyd throw in a discount?

also i have tokico shocks, would that make an alignment more expensive?

they charge a flat rate that should come with a lifetime warranty and i would check with the tire shop they might just give you a discount i know when i went to get my tires mounted they offered to do an alignment ang give me 25% off for doing both services but i turned them down.

helll yeah

well thats cool!

now i just gotta save some loot for some new tires and an alignment!!!

the next step is removing all the ac stuff, a turbo upgrade/boost controller/intercooler. also considering an oil cooler? not quite sure.

i also gotta check the head gaskets, a couple of weeks ago i saw smoke coming from between the driver-side rocker cover and the head, now my oil pressure is low(stock dash gauge) and there arent any visible leaks..

how much do headgaskets go for these days any reccomended ones for a 86 turbo?

That doesn't sound like a head gasket problem...

What kind of problem could it be?

It hasn't done it since I rigged the electric fan up to keep the radiator cool after higher rpm'ed test drives. Usually without the fan it'll start heating up when I go to park and that's when I saw the fumes coming from the drivers side rocker cover.

I think there might be too much oil in her, I checked the level today and its a bit past the measurimg tip. Could this have something to do with it?

I would check valve cover gaskets before anything.
