New project.....

Not being one to leave anything alone too long, I've jumped into a new, more challenging project.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This Prothane Bushing kit has been laying around my house for over a year now. It's cold and gonna' snow, but, what the heck. I've been puttin' this off too long.
I did the front with new arms, ball joints, tie-rod ends, and poly bushings two weeks ago. The fron't was so tight, it made the rear feel loose. Not anymore!
The entire member came out with relative ease.
This looks almost too good to destroy.
The johnZboy method of bushing removal. Hey, it keeps you warm at night.
And thank you, Dan & Mary, for the perfect fit of the solid rear member bushings.
Now, if it goes back together as easy as it came apart, and, if refubishing the rear makes as big of a difference as doing the front, I'll be a happy Z'r.
BTW, since I have all of this out, I tried to source a used LSD (in the pumpkin) without much success. A local con artist wants $800 for a "pig in a poke", or, I can get a brand new one, using my Z club discount, from Nissan for a mere $1,500. Good idea, or, not?
Did you clean up the rear end? Repaint? Any 'after' pics?
Ha! I wish.... Still in many pieces, but, hopeful that tomorrow is the re:install day. It's taking some time to get the old bushings out and the holes cleaned up. I never knew that rubber and steel could bond on a molecular level.
Probably won't do any fancy painting, maybe just a coat to prevent cancer.
I thought that painting would be a good idea. I'd love to see what that big ol' hunk of metal would look like clean!
I know how it is with the LSD situation. I have been looking for an R200 Limited Slip Assembly for almost a year without any luck. So far they units have either been overpriced or just aren't worth it. Good luck with your Z looks real nice.
Why not try a phantom grip LSD, I have heard the one for the 89-94 240sx fits in our differentials. they run About 4 - 500 dollars cheaper too.
Because the R200 is a beast, because it was made by nissan and because it is a stock replacement (bolt on). Also I can probably get one off a junkyard car if I can ever find a wrecked 4/87-89 Turbo I just haven't had any luck yet.
Well I finally got lucky I found a guy parting out a 5/87 turbo and I am getting the LSD off of it . I get to pick it up next weekend for an extremely good deal.
If he took it out of a normal 88 turbo then its an R200 Limited Slip Differential. If he took it out of an 88 SS then its an R200 Viscous Coupling LSD.
Positraction and and limited slip differentials are the same thing. it wont make a difference between just a regular LSD and Viscous coupling in my opinion. It is most likely a regular LSD for a 4/87-89 turbo and yes thats why both of your wheels spin.
Can you confirm that? I need to know before I throw money down on it.
