Angry Your New Finish: Don't DO this...

This poster is on the wall at my favorite DIY car wash. Clear visual instruction for making sure your clear coat is both clean and covered with a hundred million scratches so small you can't see them 'til the finish is dry. Do it a few times and your high glaze will be over.

Cool but I have seen that before. I think InquiZitor has the real thing. He has about everything Z31 there is anyway. Like a freaking museum.

No brush or broom will ever come within 15 feet of my z cars. Just a loving owner pampering his cars. lol

oddly enough, when that picture in my signature was taken, she hadn't been washed in 2 months, and that picture won a month on the national z31 calendar in 2008. She always takes a nice picture.

A few from a photoshoot.

That color Nissan called "Dark Pewter." Bought it factory-applied to my '86na in June, 1986. Kept it perfect for 2 years - no brushes - when a bonehead drove it through a brush wash without my knowledge. Fortunately, I didn't have a gun that day.

Your Z is a collector's item.

It is a family member after 30 years. I did the same thing with the car wash with my 81 280ZX when during the winter I took it through a car wash and it looked fine until later that day when it dried and I brought it into the heated building at work, the security guard said, "what happened to your car? There are swirls everywhere." The ZX was only 6 months old at the time. You can get rid of them with lots of elbow grease and buffing, and that was the last and only time I have ever taken a Z car through a car wash.

And thanks Quiz, if mine is awesome, yours is unbelievable. I got mine like this by throwing a ton of money at the car, yours is/has been a collector's item since it was made. I know all 30 year old cars have some flaws, but your car has been pampered since day one. Mine was a daily driver (lots of miles including winters), for the first 20 years of its life. I can't remember how many miles are on yours, but I bet it is under 100K, which was on my clock in 1992. The odo is now at 308,000 and going to climb as I now have to drive 100 mile round trip to work every day. I plan to use the Outback, 93Z32 and 85Z31 starting soon if the January weather we have been having since December ever becomes March Spring weather. The first 13 days of March have been colder than the first 13 days of January, and January was a very cold month here in New Hampshire. Been a very, very cold and snowy winter here. Polar Vortex

Snow Blower broke 3 weeks ago, 2 Z cars restless to go out and play, me getting tired of a wind chill around 20 below tonight. All winters we normally get a couple of warm melting spells. This year, only 1 5 day warmer that normal spell, with a few single days above 40. Other than that it has been 10 degrees below normal for the entire winter.

This is still one of my favorite pictures of your car.

[QUOTE=inqui-Z-tor;332092]Yes, I have the real sign.[QUOTE]

InquiZitor, looks like your sign was exposed to too much sun or maybe some kryptonite gas. The red faded to leave you with bubble-gum pink/purple. That sure was no OEM color from Nissan...

FlyingT .. Wow .. I almost forgot about that pic ...

Only during the early years .. 84-86 maybe did my Z see the snow. Annual ski trips .. so snow, muck, rain, etc .. but always detailed, waxed and otherwised "pampered" (kept covered and garaged .. 99% of it's life). Just over 30 years old .. and she looks better than some "new" cars off the show room floor.

zxguy1986 .. Yeah .. It appears that my sign is weathered. That car wash business is not local to my area ..
