1984 Z31 rear spoiler

Recently noticed the rear spoiler on my 84 was coming off the car. Was wondering if someone knew how to fix this. Thanks.

You need a 86 wing or newer. They are made out of fiberglass instead of crap. It will be a lot straighter. But get two and send one to me. I don't think they say Nissan on them is another differance. Going to try to get one tomorrow. Wait its today.

"There are 3 different spoilers used on the Z31. The only NA to come with a rear spoiler was the 1986, because it was designed to hide the 3rd brake light. The 84 and 85 spoilers used a metal subframe with a padded cover and a smooth skin. These spoilers tend to warp when the metal underneath starts rusting. The 86 spoiler was plastic and the same basic shape except altered slightly for the 3rd light and wiper. The 87-89 spoilers were slightly taller and returned to the horizontal rear wiper and made of the same plastic as the 86 spoilers. These spoilers are also two pieces and have a seam where the back portion joins the top portion"

I have an 88 fiberglass on my 84. I just deleted the wiper motor and glassed the wing smooth. Like my girl shaved

Looks like glue

84 NA didn't come with a wing, from your pic it looks like flooring adhesive, like you would use on a wood sub floor. Without ripping it back off and dicking up your paint, I would try more adhesive, squeeze it up under the edge, put a weight on it to get it to sit flat. Then I would run a bead of silicon (Black or clear) all around the edge, to seal the wing and keep moisture out. Wet your finger and run it along the edge to smooth out your bead, silicon wont stick to a wet finger, so you get a nice finished job.

Don't seal around the spoiler. If you do, there will be nowhere for the water to get out, causing even more rust. Water will find a way to get in, like around the wiper motor.

That's a factory spoiler. It was applied by a dealer and it was bolted to the car. That isn't glued on. That's the metal underside of the spoiler rusting.
