oil pressure, help

i have a 280zx that i bought brand new and have taken very good care of, but all of a sudden my oil pressure at high rpms will drop to 0, the light wont come on but then if i press the clutch in the pressure will come back but will drop agine, sometime if i go a lower speed it will come back, is better when cold, also can i remove the oil pmp without removing the frnt stbilizer bar?? and lastcan i pull the regulator valve while the pump is still in the car??

Check the connection to the oil presure sender. I had one with a slight leak and it would get all messed up when there was oil on the connector

your oil pressure is probably ok. those pumps don't wear out in anyone's lifetime. sender and gages (stock) notoriously unreliable. if really worried install an after market unit. you didn't state your mileage but unless it is north of 500K I really wouldn't be concerned. like fric frac said check the connection. maybe replace the sender.

I had the same issue when I got my ZX. The original sender unit was leaking oil, so it was a big mess down there. Replaced with a new sender unit. It's tough to get all the oil out of the electrical plug that goes into the sender unit. Once I got all the oil out of it, no more problem.

Just blast the connector with brake cleaner, etc. Just test a little on the plastic first to make sure it doesn't melt it!
