New 280zx owner

So last week I had traded a ratty, horrible, literally disgusting S12 notchback with the stock CA20E with over 256xxx on the clock for a decently mint '82 280zx. The Zx is completely unmolested, other than an aftermarket ignition coil, CAI, and Grant steering wheel & Momo hub, with 142xxx original miles on everything (and yes the odometer still works)

When I got the car it had been sitting for about a year. Since then I replaced the 35 year old injectors, 35 year old fuel filter, 35 year old high-pressure hoses for the fuel filter, and changed the oil (5w30 Royal Purple). Currently the car isn't running.

When I was replacing the injectors, the plastic tip (who the hell uses a plastic tip on an injector that heats up and cools down over and over again ) had broke off inside the injector hole. I had posted in a 280zx driver group on Facebook, trying to get ideas on how to get the piece out. One member told me to screw a wood screw in and pull it out with a claw/magnet. Long story short, the tip of the injector AND the screw is now inside the intake, luckily my valve is undamaged.

I also had one rocker arm laying inside my motor, as well as the valve spring just hanging out next to it. The valve shim was nowhere to be found (still not sure how this came off, I had not exceeded 2800 or so RPM the whole drive home). I've tracked down some valve shims now (shoutout to my buddy) and it should be up & running tonight.

I was thinking about doing an old-school bosozoku theme for the 280zx. Maybe not the excessively crazy aero, but something in that direction. Any ideas and such?

w00t! Welcome to ZDriver! I remember seeing your post about the pintle cap.

The rocker shim is probably in the bottom of your oil pan. This is a common problem with improper valve lash adjustment (I have a how-to on here).

As for your bosozoku theme... it's your car...

Good to know! Luckily I have a few extras now but I'd still rather not have that chillin' in my oil pan, so I'll probably drop the pan soon and remove that. Can't hurt to take a look inside, anyway!

Also curious if anyone has any ideas on where to start for exterior modification. My buddy is hooking me up with some rear louvers, other than that I intend on doing the S13 suspension conversion soon, other than that, I'm pretty new to classic cars haha. I've been building my Z33 for the last few years.
