First 1981 280zx for $600 (The Headless horseman)

Hello! Two days ago I bought my first Z for $600. The car is in good running condition as the person who previously owned the vehicle did a bit of work to it. While he was taking her out for a spin one afternoon he hit a horse. The horse did a bit of damage to the car externally. I am now on the hunt for a roof (without t-tops) and a windshield. I have found a few good websites that sell them but are very pricey. I believe I could get what I payed for it. I went to a body shop were the estimate was $2,500. Thoughts?

Welcome to ZDriver!

The easiest / cheapest route would be to chop the roof off a junk yard Z. I converted my 2+2 slicktop to t-top... just had a junk yard chop the roof half way down all the pillars for $200, then I removed the pillars and spliced it on to my car's pillars just like stock. Took me probably 100 hours. If you have a shop do it, the bill will be more than what the car is worth.

NismoPick,

It looks like I may have found a donor car. I do not want to do the cutting or welding myself. I will allow a body shop to do the work. The only problem on mine is the back side of the engine bay looks crunched in. Im going to get with the body shop and see what they say.

Hit it a few times with a hammer, it'll be fine.

I was actually thinking: Chain strap it to a tree and back up.
But a hammer would work just as well. lol.
