'82 ZXT Only Runs w/ CHTS & TPS Unplugged
Recently bought this Z, and I am trying to diagnose some very strange performance issues.
With everything plugged in, the car is very hard to start both warm and cold, and when it finally sputters to life, it shoots huge clouds of black smoke out the exhaust and idles very poorly, like at 400 rpm and the car shakes like mad.
I was told by the P/O that the CHTS is bad. Seeing if it changed anything, I ran the car with it unplugged. It runs decent, still really rich with black smoke, but drive-able. However, the car then idles between 1500-2000.
I ran the car like this for a while, then suddenly it wouldn't take any throttle. It would Idle high, but as soon as i have it gas it would sputter and pop out of the intake. I then Unplugged the TPS, and it started running like it just previously did with high idle.
The TPS and AFM are new. Replaced by the P/O, and I saw the receipts.
I Just replaced the CHTS, and unfortunately it acts nearly the same as it did with the old TPS...
Also, the O2 sensor wire is severed, so no feedback from that area.
Really not sure what the deal is. This is my 3rd S130, and I've never encountered an oddity like this before.
What should I do?
