Question Rear Diff I.D. Please...

Ok, I think I have a 1979 GL...cause I have the auto window control. My question has to do with the differential...is it an R200? Here are some pics, the first is the '79 the second is my R180 from my '82 coupe. Can someone identify this rear from the '79?

Yes, that is an R200. And since it's a '79 5-speed GL, it should have a 3.70:1 gearset. That should be a nice improvement from the 3.545:1 gearset in your '82 auto!

If everyone is in agreement that it is a GL then cool. Yes, it is a big improvement over the Auto car...I have barked third twice and it feels so good!! SCORE!!!

Barking tires is fun, but with current gas prices I'd stick with the 3.54 gears.

The overdrive 5th gear will make up for the numerically higher ring gear...so I am cool...plus I make decent money. However....I will slow down for a bit
