Pulled the cam covers off so I can have them polished. This is what you get when you buy a running car from the original owner. Zero sludge and ready to run without tear down.

Well,I got a quote from the poliser to do the valve covers. $287 -each! Yeah so I started by getting some buffing wheels and rouge, some small sanding drums.
While at work I made a new oil cap and dip stick handle. Did the water necks and after about 3 hours I got good enough results for me. One more valve cover to go when I get time. Best $600 I ever saved!

Not much, still trying to catch up on the honey do's. I realized that's impossible so I did the final polish on the manifold with the small wheels. I want to get the blue z ready to drive before I leave on vacation.

I got the extrusions from Ross Machine Racing. I did some sketches to get the maximum height to clear the water inlet and the hood. The position of the injectors is to spray into the intake ports and get the spray pattern for best atomization. Not knowing what that was I made them the same height as the oem injectors.

I pluged the breather holes in the cam covers and made an adaptor for the breather in the block to go to the oil catch can. Put on some silicone hoses and some nice stainless clamps. Off to Maui_

Came up with this to bypass the heater without choking off the cross flow. The head and thermostat housing allowed for a 1/2" pipe thread without drilling. Just some AN-8 adaptors and problem solved with bling. I still have the option of running a heater using bulkhead fittings at the firewall.

Header help for the VH240z
I heard that the LS1 headers were close to the VH45 spacing so I got a header gasket to compare them. The LS1 is dead on to the VH! I got the Mazworks flanges to make my own and I'm glad I did. The precision on the Mazworks is excellent and the transition from round to rectangular is great and the price can't be beat. Now I think I can get some LS1 headers, cut them off at the flanges and go from there. Some Corvette headers look very close. You SX guys will do better with am headers, not an option for me. I was going to use the cut off VH headers but compared to the Mazworks they are somewhat restricted.

headers
So I decided to go through the fender wells. Stainless all the way with side pipes above the rockers so I can get it nice and low. I just got a few pieces so I can visualize the outcome. These were from OBX. Mandrel bends and a 4 into one collector. Now I can proceed with the rest of the install as this will allow for more flexibilty on the set back and motor mounts. Weight balance should be around 50/50.

Summer is over next week and time to get back to it. Been buying some parts and have a list started for other things I will need but don't want to trip over to much stuff. I got a Tig welder so that will help out a lot. I'm going to sell the other '71 as I fixed some issues on it to make room in the garage. I need more time.

update
I havn't abandoned this project, I just been busy with my other car. I sold the engine out of the doner an some other stuff to make some cash and some room. I'm working on my other '71 repairing the dash so I can sell it. Then I can bring the doner into the garage to do the tear down. I'll pull the whole front off so I can work on the engine/trans mounts and mock up the headers, frame rails, suspension etc.

After randomly grabbing a VH45 and a T-5, with the intent of plopping then in a 240sx. This thread is going to make the inspiration side of things easy. I'm a machinist tradesmen and hobbyist welder. Mine won't be nice like yours. Goals are: light cage and bit of stitch. Do what ever it takes to keep the power plant and drive line running. Add angle. Rattle can it. Destroy tires.
