considering the v8 route
I have recently aquired a 71 240, it is striped down to the bare bones and I plan on redoing pretty much the whole thing. I have an engine that came with it and it looks like it is rebuilt and ready to go. My question is if put a cam kit, header, manifold, carb, radiator and so on. I am already over the cost of what I could pick up a 5.o engine and tranny used for. How much of a headache would this become if I just made an impulsive decision and bought the motor and t5 tranny for 600, bucks? Would I get nickle and dimed to death? On stupid specailty parts like I am already looking at.
I have looked around and have found an abundanc of 5.o motors complete, headers, fuel intake, wiring, and tranny, pretty reasonalbly priced. I don't really have a paticular question just some overall advise from someone who has done something similar would be helpful in either nipping this iat the bud, or looking into it more.

There is an excellent article on www.zhome.com click on "modifications for more horse power" and on swapping a 5.0

hey but your car will not be as valuable with a v8 as with the I6. my nehibor has a 75' 280z miata blue, nardi steering wheel, corvette interior, 86' camaro drivetrain mostly stock, msa body kit #2, louvers, american racing wheels, but he cant sell it for crap. it is worth like 14g's and he has had it for sale for 7.5g's for more than a year. If any of you are interested please reply or send me a private message w/ your email. I had someone offer me 5 grand and my car looks horrible and the bushings are shot. when I get it done it will be worth like 12-13g's
