E-Brake cable fitment

E-Brake cable fitment
I purchased a replacement e-brake cable for my 260Z on eBay. It came from Thailand so if you want to chastise me, too late, I'm whipping myself already.
Anyway, the issue is all the flanges on the replacement are smaller than those on my original cable and it simply slips through the brackets which very nicely hold the originals. Take a look at the photo. This might be a difference between 240s and 260s but I don't know.
I've read around and it seems that some folk have made these work but haven't found any information on how it's done.
Any suggestions or solutions from y'all are very much appreciated.

In my original photo, on the right is the end of the new cable. On the left is the end of the old cable.
Sorry they're a bit cut off but the important part is the flange.
What is cut off is the part that hooks to the e-brake lever of the drum brake. It connects with a clevis pin secured by a cotter pin. Those parts fit and are the same on both cables. It seems the issue is that 240Z and 260Z cable flanges and their mounting brackets are different sizes. Below is a photo of PCRessey's 240Z and its e-brake mounting at the drum.
Visually in that photo I'd say my new cable end looks like the 240Z cable which has a smaller flange than the 260Z cable. My original photo illustrates the same thing, the flanges are different size.
I need an elegant solution here. Would like to use the new cable with the smaller flange without making extensive modifications to the car. Surely someone has come across this problem in the past and found a nice fix.
Otherwise, it looks like I'll take my old cable and do my best to refinish and re-install it.
I'll get some more photos in the AM when there is some light ...

Ends of the e-brake cable
Well, here are the ends. Thanks for taking a look before.
I decided to go ahead and refurbish the original e-brake cable. So any solution that the community supplies will now be of use to whoever comes later!
See the 260Z Restoration thread in the Performance sub-forum (why I put it there way back I don't recall) if you're interested in my refurbishment.

Anyone interested in an aftermarket e-brake cable from Thailand? Actually it looks pretty good, just doesn't fit the 260Z. Has some grease on it where it slips across the "Y" piece of hardware. Otherwise, I'll put it up on e-Bay to at least cut my losses on this one.

Looking at the photos of your cable, it looks like my aftermarket replacement which didn't fit. It was too small. I'm convinced the cables for the 240s and 260s are different sizes. Even the clips aren't the same size. The 260s are larger as well.
BTW, fitting some heat shrink tubing over the cables really cleans them up and fixes those nasty tears at the connectors.
