280z

I have a 280z that makes this ringing/buzzing sound when I'm driving and take out the gear and just let it go by it self does anyone know what that could be ? Also when I shift fast it makes a piping sound in the back it's mostly on 2nd and 3rd gear

Clutch

Sounds like the throw out bearing, since it is changing when you shift or push in the clutch.

anyway you could record the sound and post a video ?

Welcome to ZDriver! If you don't have your factory service manual, download it from XenonS30 Check it out for inspection and troubleshooting routines. They are easy to follow - though the English isn't exactly top drawer.

Can you give us the year/mileage/mods on your Z? What condition is your exhaust system in?

Couple of questions (your post isn't all that clear) When you take it out of gear and coast, where does the 'ringing/buzzing' sound come from...Console, engine compartment, rear end?

Can you clarify what a 'piping' sound is? And does it come from the 'rear' when you are accelerating in 2nd/3rd - or when your RPMs top out in 2nd/3rd?

Thanks.

The buzzing sound comes from the the console ,and every time I let go of the clutch fast and accelerate it makes a popping in the back I know it's somewhere around the deferential but not exactly what it is

Well, based on the info you don't provide, I'd say your drive shaft/U-joint is beat to hell. A new drive shaft (or U-joint) should put an end to the 'pops.'

The buzzing is telling you that something that should be securely fastened isn't anymore - or something that shouldn't be loose and rattling around is now. Or it's a small metal object rattling around in an empty ash tray/console box...

Best I can guess for now...
