Parts out of a 78' 280z
Hello,
I am new to this forum and to the Datsun world in general. I have a decent background on working on cars but I just don't too much about the Datsun's so far.
I am buying a 77' 280z and the guy is giving me a parts car to go along with it. He said he will take what ever parts I want out of it for me so I don't have to tow it half a state away.
What parts in particular should I ask him to remove? I know some of the basic stuff like AFM, radiator, air compressor, fuel pump, ECU.. but if anyone can give me a list of the items I should tell him to remove for me that would be great. especially anything that may be harder to find or people wouldn't really think of till that particular part malfunctions. Thanks!
Steven

Why is it a parts car? There is so much that could be useful including the gas tank, interior, doors, hatch, fenders, dash and body wiring harnesses, etc. In 77 the door latches were changed, so the 77/78 doors are unique in many ways compared to the earlier Z cars. The gas tanks changed in 77, as well. How much can you haul back with you?

The engine is seized according to the guy.The body has lots of rust in all the wrong places, thats why he was using it as a parts car. The car I am getting is in pretty damn good condition. The body was recently just painted as well. So cosmetically its fine. Now the things that are wrong with it is...
A/c doesnt work
Breaks need to be be pumped up to break
The #5 exhaust valve is making noise (mechanics stethescope)
When you throttle the engine it sputters to about 3000 rpms then its good
So I guess based off of that and just in general good things to strip from this car? Not too worried I guess about cosmetically just the parts to keep it running
