motor part combinations

Ok, here we go. I purchased a 260z with the l26 motor that had a bad head, the lower end seems fine. I then purchased a 280z head that was rebuilt for replacement. Missing the head bolts, and finding them rather expensive, I found a l24 complete motor for $200, the owner says ran fine when he removed it, so he could install a v8. The l24 "looks" in great shape, but I haven't taken it apart. Now, with all these motor parts, what's the best combo? Or do I even know what I'm talking about? Thanks.

"Best combo" depends on what you want...

I guess I'm looking for the best performance with what I got.

I won't pick up the head until this weekend. But the guy said it was a high compression from a 280z. That's all I know about it this far. I have a l26 block, and a complete l24 motor, that still runs. This is my first Datsun car so I'm slowly learning.
