I met a guy name norm that runs in the 12s with a 240 and SUs with street tires! I dont know what displacement or gearing he is known as normthe12secdude on another website. Lives in Minn. I think. he sends me emails almost every day . seems like a great guy. Gary

Yes, and he has what would be considered a highly modified engine and an early 240Z with no bumpers. The lightest Z you can get. Also, those results are not typical. Others have tried to copy his engine buildup and not gotten near as fast as him.

I could be mistaken, but i recall 240 Z's stock off the showroom floor did 17.1 seconds in the quarter mile according to motor trend at the time. my previous Z, a 71 did about 15 flat with just moderate "bolt ons" (crane ign, header, k&n air cleaners, lightened flywheel, centerforce clutch& Pressure plate ohh and i swapped my 4 speed for a 79' zx 5 speed. I looked around at other car reviews/ perf. specs and by compairsion, a stock mustang GT (5.0) (circa 1990-1991 or so) clocked in at 14.9 seconds in the 1/4 mile. so I was happy and never did any other mods to it.

I knew I had seen a NICE list of performance specs before...go to this link:
http://zhome.com/History/zcarperf.html
It has a very complete listing for most all Z cars, and others too roadsters, some skylines too... and lists the sources of the data too.
