Advice on new intake and fuel goodies

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I came across some goodies recently and couldn't pass them up. I bought a dewebbed l28et intake with turbo injectors and an aluminum fuel rail. It also had a 240sx ka24 throttle body already on it. I have a basically stock 77 280z l28e I have been battling with various vacuum leaks and fuel leaks due to rotten hoses and leaky injectors. I thought this package would be a nice upgrade and it was a good deal. I have done some research on installing these items, but I was going to ask for advice on the whole package. I've read mixed statements about the turbo injectors and the use of the 240sx throttle body. Any incite or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Taylor

Feel free to use the intake, the rail, and the 240sx tb, but the bigger injectors from the turbo car will not be good for you since you don't have the air to push to match the fuel, so it will just run rich unless you have an aftermarket ECU to change the pulse of the injector so it's not flooding.
Cheers.

That makes sense. I guess I'll try and sell those and just buy a set of stock ones. Any experience with the 240sx tb. I know I'm going to convert to a throttle cable, but I was wondering if there is any hints on the initial set up of the new tb. Thanks a lot.

I haven't had any issues with it. You CAN use the stock linkage if you want, just need a 1" spacer and convert the TB shaft to take the linkage. As long as the intake is port matched, and you use the stock TPS and mount it and adjust it to the 240sx TB (its easy). Do you need bigger TB? Not really, the rest of the intake system (runners, head etc) would need extensive work to support the bigger TB. It just gets you more air at lesser percentage of pedal travel, which FEELS nicer, to me at least. I threw it on my engine for throttle response and it looks a hell of a lot cleaner than the old tb.

Good luck.

Good to know you've had good luck with it. The guy I bought the intake from already had the new TB mounted on it. That's why I was a little unsure about using it at first. He said he matched the ports and from look in from the outside it looks to be so. I had read about the retaining the linkage with the 1" spacer, but the throttle linkage mounting ears have been ground off during the "clean up" of the intake. I can see what you mean about the improved feel of the pedal. That will be an added bonus. And you're right...it will look a lot cleaner than the old set up. Thanks for the Skully.
