77 280Z 2+2 clutch? shifter?

With the motor running you can pull the shifter ALL THE WAY into all gears? And no grinding? No moving? If so you've got major problems...
However, I don't think you are actually able to do that.
Have you checked the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder? I think you'll find that it's empty (call me psychic).

IF thats the case Your do have major problems. You could have a broken clutch/pressure place Or a broken input shaft on the tranny. OR! (if you lucky) The slave cylinder might be stuck all the the way out so the clutch isnt engaging but thats a long shot at best.

Hmm, been popping the clutch have we? The clutch disc may have come apart or the input shaft is broken. Could even be the shift rods are slipping. Try neutral to reverse with the engine idling (clutch out). Like he said, fork hang-up. Have someone pump the pedal and you observe the fork movement on the trans.
