Must suspension change for motor swap
Hey guys i just got a 1974 260z ....my question is ...if i wanted to swap in a rb26dett motor down the road would i have to change all my suspension and/or driveshafts too.....or can you swap in any motor and use the exsisting shafts suspension and brakes.

You don't HAVE to change any suspension, but you should consider upgrades. If you make the car go fast, you should also make it controllable while at high speeds, and make it stop.
FYI, the car only has one driveshaft.

ok the reason i asked is because i want to upgrade the suspension first before i do the motor swap....i just didnt want to change all my suspension and brakes to find out that i would need to change them all again after the motor swap.....

You're mixing two different things into one...
A motor swap is a motor swap.
Suspension upgrades are suspension upgrades.
For a motor swap, you just change the things related to the motor swap. For an RB26 that would include:
-Wiring
-Motor mounts
-Transmission mounts
-Driveshaft
-Intercooler / air intake piping
-Etc
Yes, the two shafts connecting to the differential are called "half-shafts" because they have u-joints. CV shafts (like in more current cars) have rubber boots covering a grease joint.

well was gonna change the diff to an r200 maybe if i did the engine swapped my only concern is if i changed the diff ..that means i might have to change the half shafts inturn hopefully that doesnt mess with me having to change any brake parts or anything in the area thats what info im looking for ...maybe somebody in here has already done that swap?....my heart is not set on the rb26dett i know theres other milder motor swaps you can do ....but i know im gonna get bored of that 2.6l that came from the factory in the car ...its gutless !
